Plan Your Open Studios Visit
Never "done" an Open Studios Art Trail before? Here's your guide to planning your trip.
Step One
Grab your event guide or pop over to our Artists Page and browse the artists participating. Clicking on each artist will give you their location, opening times and a bit more about themselves and their art. The event guide is available at various locations or you can see a digital flip through below.
Step Two
With map locations and times in mind, plan your day(s) to create a journey that minimises your driving and covers all your artists as well as any snack stops and sight seeing in the region. Maps are on each artist profile and a combined map below, you will have to click and drag to see all locations.
Step Three
Pack your snack and drinks (or plan your food stops), bring your map/phone and head out to enjoy the day. Don't rush and enjoy the scenery. If you are running short of time at the end of the day, call ahead and let the artist know you are coming. Please respect opening and closing times.
Book Accomodation
Having a night away? The Northern Valleys is a beautiful place to stay and is very popular in the Spring. Book your accomodation early if you are planning to stay. Check out some options here.
Plan your trip
You can use our physical guide to make the most of your trip, to make sure you get to all the places you want to go with a minimum of travel time. It's a region with lots to see, so add other businesses and sights to your journey. The Visit Chittering website has plenty of resources to add things like walking trails and wildflower hotspots to your plan.
The Chittering Spring Festival is on!
Northern Valleys Open Studios is part of the wider Chittering Spring Festival, a wider event that showcases the best of the region throughout September. Visitors can experience delicious food & wine, fresh produce, arts, crafts & music, history and of course spectacular wildflowers. Check out the website to see what other Spring Festival Events are running when you come to visit Open Studios.
Be a great visitor
Please stick to paths/roads, read signs and respect opening times. Supervise your kids and keep them with you and check with artists beforehand if you want to bring your dog. Remember that many of these locations are private residences (some are working farms) and not normally for the public. These things are for your safety as well as respecting our artists' spaces.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Individual artists have the right to deny others permission to photograph their work and please understand that this is very common. If you want to take a photo, ask the artist first (you might ask them to be to be in it with you). If you want to share to social media, mention that to the artist and tag them if they have an account.
