Public Liability Insurance

PLI is essential for artists participating in Open Studios and evidence of coverage is required to put in your application. As always, insurance is a personal decision and it is up to you to do the appropriate research to ensure the product you select is right for you. However, we know it can be an exhausting exercise, so we have a few suggestions here. For professional artists requiring insurance for more than one event, NAVA (National Association of Visual Artists) and Artsource (the Western Australian version) both provide insurance products for working artists with an annual fee. For those only seeking coverage for this event... "Duck for Cover" provided NV Open Studios with this information: "Duck For Cover can provide Public Liability policy for Visual Artists / Craft Artists. This is a Category 1 activity and the current rate is $59 for cover until the 12th of October, 2024. Duck for Cover members are covered under their Public Liability policy while exhibiting their artwork. This would include public visiting insured members art studio as part of art trail. The Duck for Covers Performers Public Liability insurance policy will cover only the risks directly associated with a member displaying their own artwork. Here is a brief summary of what can and cannot be covered under Visual Arts: Includes: Drawing, painting, sculpture, craft. Excludes: Photography, film making, animation, prop and set making/design, installations, sign writing, graphic design, costume/fashion design, jewellery making, glass blowing/glass work, metal work, floristry or flower arranging, and wood work. (If you use flame in your Visual Art activities (for example firing work or raku firing) you will need to also select Fire Acts in Category 3. ) I hope this help. If you have any further questions, please get in touch. Kind regards, Dylan Duck for Cover Tel: 03 9439 5991 help@duckforcover.com.au www.duckforcover.com.au" If you believe this product may be right for you, contact them directly to apply. Please note that NV Open Studios have no affiliation or experience with this company, but it is commonly used by similar events in WA.
